Stephen
''Steph'' Curry was born on the 14th of
March 1988 in Akron, Ohio but grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is an
NBA professional player who plays for the Golden State Warriors in Oakland,
California.
His
first name is actually Wardell II. He was named after his father, ''Dell'' Curry
who was a former NBA player with Charlotte Hornets.
At
6 ft 3 and weighing 86 kg,
Curry plays the point guard position and is regarded by some to be the greatest
NBA shooter of all time.
In
the 2012-13 season, Curry eclipsed Ray Allen's record of 269 three-pointers set in the 2005-06 season with 272
three-pointers.
The
2014-15 season set him alight when he was named NBA Championships MVP as he
broke his own record with 286 three-pointers and led the Warriors to a franchise-record and
NBA-best 67 wins on the season.
Curry
led the Warriors to their first NBA Championship since 1975, defeating Lebron James'
Cleveland Cavaliers.
In
addition to his stellar career, he has won two FIBA World Championship gold medals with the US National team; in 2010
and 2014.
Steph
is a self-proclaimed Christian. He spoke about his faith during his MVP speech and
on some of his "Curry One" basketball shoes, there is a lace loop
scripted "4:13" in reference to the bible verse, Philippians 4:13
The
leading lady in Steph's life is 26 year-old Ayesha Curry, a Canadian actress
who he started dating in 2008. The couple met as teenagers in their church but on
July 30 2011, they tied the knot.
The
live in Orinda, California and have a three year-old daughter, Riley Curry, and
are expecting a second daughter in July.
Riley
is known as the latest ''Curry'' to steal hearts worldwide with her adorable press
conference and stadium appearances during the playoffs, including a memorable
rendition of Big Sean's ''Blessings'' where right in the middle of her father's
response in a press conference she chirped ''WayYYYyy Up......I feel blessed''.
This
reportedly spiked the rush for ''Steph Curry'' jerseys as he leads the sales for
April-June, surpassing Lebron James in second and other notable players like
Kobe Bryant in sixth and last season's MVP; Kevin Durant in surprisingly, 11th
spot.
